Jade Mountain

Saint Lucia

Property: Jade Mountain

Country: Saint Lucia

Region: Soufriére, located on the west coast of Saint Lucia overlooking the breathtaking volcanic Pitons

Property size: 24 infinity pool sanctuaries, 5 sky Jacuzzi suits

Best time to travel: November to April, which includes the island’s driest months. Temperatures during the winter and spring tend to average in the low 80s, making Saint Lucia a sought-after destination for couples celebrating a winter wedding or postponed honeymoon from earlier in the year.

Flight time: Minneapolis to Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) in Saint Lucia, roughly 8.5 hours including a short layover and connecting flight; New York to UVF, roughly 4.5 hours nonstop; Los Angeles to UVF, roughly 12 hours including a layover and connecting flight.

Jade Mountain is an additional 60-minute drive from UVF, or a 6-minute helicopter ride to the property’s private helipad.

Why I’m smitten: Voted one of Travel and Leisure’s top resorts in the Caribbean, the luxe sanctuaries at Jade Mountain were made for romance—literally. The 29 sanctuaries, aptly classified as Star, Moon, Sun, and Galaxy, were purposefully designed by architect Nick Troubetzkoy to use the “earth, air, and water to give intense pleasure.” They include private infinity pools, 15-foot ceilings, and only three walls, meaning honeymooners have sweeping, open-air views of the idyllic Caribbean Sea and volcanic Pitons—all while enjoying complete privacy.

Jade Mountain also offers a variety of gourmet dining choices, including private in-sanctuary meals and unique experiences at its Celestial Terrace, a jaw-dropping location perched high above the sea (hence, perfect for stargazing). Couples can rest assured that the produce is as fresh as it gets, too. Since 2007, Jade Mountain has grown its own fruits and vegetables at its Emerald Estates, a 20-minute drive from the resort into the Soufriere hills. (Both Emerald Estates and Jade Mountain’s cocoa plantations can be toured.)

To top it off, guests at Jade Mountain have the option to choose a meal plan if they wish, including: The Breakfast and Dinner Plan (MAP) for $100 per person per day; the All Meals Plan (FAP) for $135 per person per day; and the All-Inclusive Plan (AI) for $180 per person per day.

Travel tip: Jade Mountain exudes romance. Embrace this magic by dining under the stars at Anse Mamin, a private beach that can be reserved for just you and the love of your life. This exclusive experience includes a 5-course meal and wine pairing prepared by the resort’s executive chef—and an unforgettable evening with the Pitons as a backdrop and the Caribbean Sea as your personal maestro.
